During the COVID-19 pandemic, 165 million students in Latin America and the Caribbean were abruptly disconnected from education. By the end of 2021, schools had been closed for an average of 237 days, more than anywhere else in the world. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of many people around the world, it has not done so uniformly. Perhaps one of the most devastating legacies of the pandemic is its effect on young people.

A SIGED should allow a complete and efficient management of the relevant processes at all the levels of the education system, incorporating new technologies (Arias Ortiz et al., 2019).

Saving without Barriers: Lessons from the Retirement Savings Laboratory's Pilot Projects

This document presents the Retirement Savings Laboratorys (Laboratory) main findings, lessons, and challenges from several pilot interventions aimed at promoting voluntary pension savings among independent and low-income workers in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. The interventions were implemented over four years using various tools based on behavioral economics and new technologies. The four main lessons that were obtained are: (1) Solutions linked to a source of income have a significant impact on generating voluntary savings.

Yet, there are many things we do not know about the wellbeing, the working conditions, and the training of the caregivers for older people. Our work aims to fill some of the existing knowledge gaps by analyzing new data on the conditions of paid and unpaid caregivers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
