What are the champion's specialties or areas of expertise?
Lawyer by profession, Denisse has extensive experience in customer service, with attention to detail and education. She focuses on the user experience with the telemedicine platform and with the implementation of telemedicine guides in the practice of health professionals. She is in charge of and a leader in training physicians throughout the Latin American region in the use and implementation of telemedicine and digital practices, creating continuing medical education programs with an emphasis on digital health. She is also the person responsible for training the patient support team, which is integrated into the platform. Denise is on the company's board of directors.
What are the champion's achievements in digital health?
Denisse has trained more than 10,000 health professionals throughout the Latin American region, in telemedicine and digital health. She has created health professional training programs that are an integral part of " Academia Aliv.io ", an academy focused on providing continuous medical education to health professionals, always with a focus on digital health. During the pandemic, she created a virtual program for patient care through a chat, which she integrated into the platform, with key functionalities to support the user in their journey through the platform. This program was designed for professionals to attend to the needs of patients. However, knowing the importance of technology and the speed of response, she created a chatbot based on artificial intelligence to support patients with symptoms of COVID-19. Patients complete a questionnaire and the results are directed to a doctor on the platform's network, led by a chat consultant.
Seeing the high need of patients in mental health, Denisse led a social responsibility program together with the Pan American University of Guatemala, and created a virtual mental health clinic, in which a group of final year psychology students cared for patients with needs in Guatemala. This program was carried out with new integrations and functionalities focused on mental health (such as the psychological clinical record) and many patients benefited.
She has worked hand in hand with several highly prestigious laboratories worldwide. She led a program for a laboratory creating a digital practice focused on dermatitis, with dermatologists from Ecuador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Guatemala. She designed this program together and during the time of implementation many patients were seen through telemedicine. With Denisse's high knowledge, the team was formed to develop continuing medical education programs in the region, providing constant assistance to health professionals.

Why is the champion passionate about digital health (how did the champion become interested in digital health)?
Denisse is a faithful believer that health benefits from technology with the right measures, protocols, policies and formalities. According to her, technology is a great ally of health, and she believes that health should be for everyone. She also believes that more people can be reached through technology, in populations where health care is almost zero. She asserts that digital health came to stay and she recognizes the importance of our countries to become actively benefiting from this new phenomenon.
How can we attract more women to work on digital health?
We need to be more inclusive by creating a support network in the industry. Programs for women in digital health is very important to continue to motivate more women to join. You don't need to be a doctor or a healthcare professional to be part of the industry. On the other hand, we need more managers, directors, financial, lawyers, coders (key!), accountants. This industry needs more women and the type of profession is not a limit. We want to create a stronger network, implementing internal programs in companies, programs with other institutions, awards, recognitions, trainings.
