Eimy's interest in digital health was born after her first year of volunteering in medical social service, in the most difficult place in Central America. In "La Mosquitia", there is only one regional Hospital, and the communities are far away. People who live there have to travel for 8 hours or even 2 days to access medical services. This inspired her to work on providing access to health services for all people, regardless of where they live, and the first project in telemedicine using ICTs by volunteer doctors was founded.
How can we attract more women to work on digital health?
Eimy believes that providing communication spaces and positioning of different leaders in digital health at the regional level, creating a community of innovative women (digital health, STEAM, etc.) is the key of attracting more women to work in digital health.
