The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS) of the Dominican Republic has launched the National Digital Health Strategy (ENSD) 2024-2028, a strategic plan to transform the health system through the integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs). With the slogan "Towards a more accessible, efficient and inclusive health system", the strategy puts people at the centre of the digital transformation, promoting equity, quality and efficiency in health services.

Objectives
  • Improve the efficiency and accessibility of health services
  • Implement emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and medical robotics
  • Expand telemedicine to reach more Dominicans
Development and implementation

The initiative is aligned with the 2030 Digital Agenda and the National Strategic Plan for Health 2030, and has the technical support of the World Bank, UNDP and RECAINSA. It will be implemented by a governance structure led by the Ministry of Health and composed of various government entities.
