The Health Information Exchange (HIE) is one of the main national digital health infrastructures of Israel's digital health strategy, which is led by the Ministry of Health. This document narrates the case of the construction of a Health Information Exchange in Israel and the importance not only of technology but also of the structure of the health system and budget limitations to generate higher rates of use of HIA and, therefore, therefore, better results for patients.
