Ideathon for the prevention of violence against women in Colombia

Description

Ideatón for the prevention of violence against women in Colombia

In Colombia, a woman runs a high risk of being a victim of violence. For this reason, between November 2020 and April 2021 an Ideatón was organized to generate technological initiatives that combat this reality.

This Ideatón was born with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Presidential Council for Equity for Women (CPEM), the UN and the Universidad del Rosario; It also has contributions from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

200 innovation teams participated to develop technological solutions for the following three challenges:

• How to improve counseling for women victims of violence?

• How to improve the quality of care provided by Family Police Stations to women victims of violence?

• How to prevent violence and sexual harassment in public spaces?

At the end of the process, 3 winning teams were chosen.

In order to support the winning teams for the successful development of their projects, an acceleration program was created through micro challenges, workshops, specialized advice, follow-up and creation laboratories.

The result of the acceleration process was as follows:

ALIVE: is a technological tool that, through efficient management of cases of gender violence, benefits communication and inter-institutional articulation to provide the comprehensive care required to women victims of violence.

IRIS: is a web application that interconnects all municipal protection and care entities related to violence against women, to manage cases in an articulated, agile and qualified manner.

SOFIE: It is a virtual companion aimed at women who have suffered some type of violence, with the purpose of establishing links with them. Due to her feminine and unique features, outside of common stereotypes, it psychologically generates feelings of well-being and tranquility.

At the end of the acceleration process, these three projects participated in two presentations. The first, a pre-Demo Day that was focused on partners and investors to implement the solution with local governments. The second presentation focused on deploying the pilot with the collaboration of companies and private investors.
