In the fight against COVID19, billions of personal geo-location data points are being used by countries around the world to “flatten the curve” of contagion, in order to re-establish the circulation of people, and to better manage physical distancing among individuals. We are referring to the surveillance systems that several governments have begun using to track or trace individuals and their physical contacts (contact-tracing) to control the contagion.
People prefer to age at home, in a familiar setting, and surrounded, when possible, by their belongings and closest relatives and friends. This is not only a matter of personal preference. The World Health Organization highlights the importance of the context in determining the effects of aging on health: aging at home increases confidence levels, independence, and autonomy.
It´s no secret that globally, women assume the majority of unpaid labor within the household; women also spend more hours on paid and unpaid labor combined than men do. This status quo has only been magnified by the global pandemic, which has overburdened the care economy to the brink.

In fact, so many people wanted it to be their home, they built a city. The world's big cities -that are now full of skyscrapers and wide concrete avenues, and where the only wild animals live in zoos- once looked very different. Many were farms. A few were jungles or swamps. A handful were desert oases. Even today, cities cannot be separated from the natural environment.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) advocates for building a shared understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its opportunities and applications, and its risks and the possible measures to mitigate them.
