This document provides an inventory of available national census and household survey questions on race and ethnicity in Latin America while sharing a methodology for harmonizing data on race and ethnicity across countries over time. By contributing to the understanding of how to harmonize race and ethnicity variables, we hope to increase the pool of researchers who can use race and ethnicity data to undertake cross-country analysis that will inform development policy-making to reduce socio-economic gaps between indigenous peoples, African descendants, and the rest of the population.
Improving students' social skills is a critical challenge for the region. Schools and families play a critical role in developing these skills by providing opportunities for students to work together and collaborate at home, in class, and through extracurricular activities.
The Better Jobs Index measures jobs in countries based on two dimensions: quantity and quality. The quantity dimension is composed of two indicators: the labor participation rate and the employment rate. Quality, on the other hand, consists of the formality rate and living wage sufficient to overcome poverty. Thus, the index is the weighted average of these four indicators*, and their scores range from 0 to 100.
