SGiS: System for the Management of incidents in Health
Description
SGiS, System for the Management of Incidents in Health, was created as part of a strategy to strengthen referrals and counter referrals, emergency response, and obstetric and neonatal emergencies in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.
It offers an environment that systematizes the referral and health incidences (obstetric emergencies) in the medical units within the Ministry of Health, covering the incident from its emergence in the primary care level until its resolution in the second level. Additionally, it chronologically records the available resources and the actions taken to resolve the incident. This allows us to know the context of each incident, and to identify care processes that require strengthening and thereby join the state's efforts to reduce maternal mortality. In addition, it allows monitoring of the counter reference of obstetric patients for puerperal control. It allows to notify by SMS to patients, companions and health units about the different stages of care and follow-up.
Each hospital unit is a central information center; responsible for managing patients in maternal health, from the monitoring, recording and follow-up of incidents; the processes are controlled through SGiS, to coordinate the network of services in order to provide a resolutive attention to the users within the shortest time possible.
