Digital Transformation to provide better social and health services
The Social Protection and Health Division(SPH) is tasked with the preparation and supervision of Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) operations in borrowing member states in the areas of social protection, health and nutrition. The objective is to advance to a more productive region, with equal opportunities for men and women, and greater inclusion of the most vulnerable groups. This is done through the joined work with the Social Sector in the areas of education, labor, gender, and diversity.
Here at SPH, we believe in the power of digital transformation that provides us all with an opportunity to deliver more and better social services to citizens. Digital tools can support us to apply data to improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of services in the region. In healthcare, for example, electronic health record (EHR) systems allow both the patient and health professionals to access key information to improve the quality of care and avoid unnecessary expenses. Likewise, interventions applying artificial intelligence (AI) can facilitate the work of health personnel by expanding their coverage and quality of their services.
The Social Digital initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) proposes to develop research and share digital solutions that enhance the services offered by governments and improve the experience of citizens.
