SIAL: Information System for the Logistic Administration of Medical Units

Description

The Secretariat of Health of Chiapas in Mexico (ISECH), through its Information Technology Division and with the support of the Salud Mesoamerica Initiative (SMI), developed the Information System for Logistics Administration (SIAL) project. Its objective is to facilitate and strengthen warehouse control at the central and jurisdictional levels. One of the main functions of the Ministry of Health is to supply the different medical units of the state of Chiapas with medicines and materials necessary for adequate attention to the population. Therefore, implementing tools for the control and distribution of medical supplies is a priority.

The SIAL helps in decision making processes regarding the distribution of medicines, material and laboratory supplies, and / or fixed asset inputs, to effectively meet the needs of the different populations covered by the health service. In addition, the SIAL enables the analysis of logistic data for the evaluation of processes, as well as management decision making guiding continuous improvement of the system. This, in turn, ensures permanent availability of health supplies, links to the other platform and includes an online and offline version
