Description
In times of pandemics, the government’s role is critical- from sharing latest and accurate information with public to developing strategies to minimize impacts and recover. As Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) are central for the management of COVID-19, it is especially important to continue close monitoring, enhance communication strategies, intensify active surveillance systems, and prepare for resilience of health systems (WHO 2020), all of which are areas were digital interventions are useful. Digital tools are promising surveillance, communication, and countermeasure tools to COVID-19 that have been widely applied globally. Digital Response
- The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) issued solutions No. 5951 and 5952 of 2020 that are articulated with Decree No. 464 of March 23, 2020, through which “concrete measures are taken to guarantee that Colombians have access to the communications services during the state of economic, social and ecological emergency ”. Web Portal: Ministry of Health and Social Protection on New Coronavirus COVID-19
- CoronApp Colombia is a mobile application of the National Government of Colombia used to strengthen the monitoring of public health risks associated with Coronavirus.
- Thanks to the report on the state of health of Colombians and travelers, who believe or do not have symptoms of the Coronavirus, it is possible to understand the behavior of the virus in the country and design prevention and containment measures against it.
- Those who register with this tool can report their health status, contributing to the monitoring of symptoms of the population in Colombia, allowing rapid detection of cases. Likewise, CoronApp offers users official information on government measures, prevention recommendations, location of health services, as well as channels to guide and provide timely attention.
- The data is monitored in real time by the Emergency Operations Center of the National Institute of Health (INS) who will be able to act quickly and provide support in coordination with local, departmental and national authorities.
- The National Government's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Agency, Innpulsa Colombia, promotes Colombia Emprende e Innova, a strategy that activates and articulates the country's entrepreneurial and entrepreneurial capacity to counter the effects of COVID-19. This initiative aims, among other things, to prevent the collapse of the health system through a group of specialists who provide tele-counseling, telepsychology, tele-orientation and telemedicine services.

Installed capacity for the provision of health services

This control panel shows the installed capacity in hospitalization, intermediate care and intensive care beds intended for the care of adult patients. Of this number, it is estimated that 50% will be allocated to the care of patients with COVID 19, in compliance with what was determined in the first phase of expansion of hospital services aimed at this group of patients. The report includes the installed capacity that, pursuant to Art. 1 of Decree 358 of 2020, has been temporarily authorized by the territorial entities.
