Interview: Countering COVID-19 misinformation in digital platforms

Dr. Kasisomayajula “Vish” Viswanath, Lee Kum Kee Professor of Health Communication, recently spoke with AMA Journal of Ethic’s Dr. Audiey Kao in “Digital Spread of Pandemic Misinformation and Lies (Part 1, Part 2)”. In the two-part interview, Dr. Viswanath highlights the problems of COVID-19 misinformation in social media and how to counter them.

“Given the trust people have in their physicians, it’s very critical that physicians do not sit on the sidelines and actively intervene whenever it is warranted,” says Dr. Viswanath. “It is important that physicians as well as health networks and organizations mobilize collectively to counter COVID-19 myths.”
