Education spending has increased significantly in Latin America and the Caribbean over the last few decades and Jamaica is no exception. The country has prioritized education within its policy agenda, with spending consistently above the regions average for more than 10 years. Despite these efforts, closing existing learning gaps between advantaged and disadvantaged students has remained a challenge. This study examines how resources are allocated to Jamaican schools and explores ways to promote equity through adjustments in education spending.

In an age of innovation and digitalization, creativity has become one of the most valued skills in the labor market. This brief shows how policymakers and teachers can empower students to innovate and improve their education by developing students creativity. After defining creativity, the paper shows how the concept can be translated into teacher-friendly rubrics to support them to design or redesign better lessons but also to assess their students.

Administrative records, surveys, and censuses are all important resources for understanding the extent and nature of existing inequities and biases. When individuals, households, and peoples (pueblos) are properly identified based on their ethnicity, race, disability status, sexual orientation, migration status, gender identity, or other characteristics, gaps in socioeconomic indicators across these groups can be quantified. This enables policymakers to focus efforts and resources towards the most disadvantaged and promote equity.
