Cuando el ser humano hace inferencias cruzadas acerca de sus ideas, capacidades y posibilidades (también imposibilidades) logra despertar ese motor de la curiosidad que lleva dentro.

The use of inference is a fertile source for drawing a framework for solid experimental, and eventually, scientific learning. When a person relates inferences regarding ideas, capacities, and opportunities (and also impossibilities), that person awakens the creative force that lies within.
Fortunately there is an evolutionary chain of evidence for this proposition that goes back thousands of years. As an exercise in historical memory, we merely have to look around ourselves and ask what explains the success of a particular activity.

Recientemente, la Universidad de Yale anunció el acceso abierto a su colección cultural de más de 250,000 imágenes. Entre muchas otras, se pueden encontrar obras de Picasso, Renoir o Gauguin en forma electrónica. ¿Qué tienen que ver el arte, los grandes artistas de siglos pasados con los Recursos Educativos Abiertos (REA), la tecnología y la educación?
Last week, the New York Times opened its doors for the inaugural Schools for Tomorrow conference on bringing technology into the classroom. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the conference and reflect on what I felt were some overarching themes:

La semana pasada, el New York Times abrió sus puertas a la sesión inaugural de la Conferencia Escuelas del Mañana que se proponía reflexionar sobre cómo llevar la tecnología a las aulas. Between 2006 and 2009, over 275,000 high school students participated in the High School Survey of Student Engagement, which is implemented annually in the United States. The survey focuses on three areas: why students go to school, level of boredom, and the risk of dropping out. The findings were consistent during this period. Nearly 7 out of 10 students go to school because they want to go to college or get a good job, to be with their friends, and due to family pressure. Enjoying school or learning what is taught in class was cited less often (41% and 36% respectively).
